Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of StudyLumina (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. The Service
StudyLumina helps students organise course materials and generate study aids such as summaries, flashcards and quizzes, and estimates exam readiness. The Service is provided for educational purposes and does not guarantee any specific academic result.
2. Eligibility and account
You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country, to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of your registration details, for keeping your credentials confidential, and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you may not upload content you do not have the right to use, attempt to disrupt, probe or reverse-engineer the Service, infringe the intellectual property or other rights of anyone, or access the Service through automated means beyond what these Terms allow.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of the documents and materials you upload ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited licence to store and process Your Content solely to provide the Service to you — for example to extract text, generate study aids and compute your readiness score. We do not claim ownership of Your Content.
5. AI-generated content
Summaries, flashcards, quizzes and tutor answers are generated automatically and may contain errors or omissions. They are study aids, not authoritative sources. Always verify important information against your official course materials. You are responsible for how you use AI-generated output.
6. Plans, billing and refunds
The Service offers a free plan and paid plans. Paid subscriptions are billed through our payment processor (Stripe) on a recurring basis until cancelled. You may cancel at any time, and access continues until the end of the current billing period. Prices and plan limits may change with notice. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.
7. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend or discontinue features of the Service at any time. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service unlawfully. On termination, Your Content may be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "last updated" date, and we will communicate material changes where reasonable. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory local law provides otherwise.
